Above is an actually Suomi KP-31 receiver that was manufactured at the Tikkakoski plant in central Finland. Obviously, it was never used in building a SMG but rather kept in reserve. It is manufactured from a single piece of billet. If you are able to download this pic to your desktop and enlarge it you will notice that it most likely has the same manufacturing marks and characteristics of your de-milled Suomi as they came off the same production line.
Here are two important issues to put to rest. Firstly, the side plates are not welded on as others may lead you to believe. The entire receiver pictured above is one single unit. Secondly, as long as the front and rear fillers are being manufactured according to spec there will be absolutely no need to custom fit drums or mags as they will fit into the magazine well with 100% precision!
I believe that because the receiver side plates, front filler and rear filler are being built onto the receiver tube as attachments they are being done so out of spec!!! Thus, leading to problems and issues of one kind or another. In the end, we hear all sorts of stories explaining why the pieces just didn't exactly match. This, in my humble opinion, leads to misinformation about Finn's, our history and the magnificent Suomi KP-31 which certainly was something very much more!
Ei ihme etten löytänyt hitsisaumoja...
